According to SteamDB, Over the weekend New World had hit an all-time peak of 200,856 concurrent players on Steam in Amazon’s new world beta.
On 20th July New World closed beta kicked off and on 25th July the concurrent player count peaked just days later.
This comes as great news for Amazon Games after reports about struggles with internal management, canceled projects, “bro culture,” and in-house game engine.
In May 2020 a free-to-play multiplayer third-person shooter called Crucible back launched by Amazon’s Relentless Studios.
However, the game wasn’t received well by fans and critics alike. It had an all-time peak of 25,145 concurrent players and in November 2020 Amazon decided to shut down the Crucible servers.

The New World closed beta will be available until August 2 and on August 31 the game is set to launch.
Reports suggest that Amazon Studios is also working on a Lord of the Rings MMO and casual games for Twitch streamers.
Mike Frazzini, Amazon’s VP of game services and studios, had said,
“The big picture is about trying to make the best of Amazon and bringing it to games. We have been working for a while, but it takes a long time to make games, and we’re bringing a lot of Amazon practices to”
